Peewits and Mallard.

Never mind a white Christmas,we had a white Easter this year. The weather confused all the birds coming into the hills to breed, with the short eared owls coming into the Lammermuirs and then heading off back to the coast when the snow returned and blanketed the hillsides. All of the breeding birds will be late this year, including the peewit that I photographed in the last of the snow along the Westruther road in Berwickshire. As the snow melted away,it left large puddles in some of the fields and that is where I came across this pair of mallard feeding in the shallows.Peewit in snow,Berwickshire,Scottish Borders. About Phil Mclean

Hi, my name is Phil Mclean. I'm a nature photographer living in Berwickshire,in the Scottish Borders.I enjoy photographing all aspects of nature, from the birds and the bees,to the mammals and the trees. I just love being out in the countryside whenever possible and preferably with a camera. Although I do make it difficult for myself,as I'm normally accompanied by my photographic assistant, Ollie,my springer spaniel dog. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures that I post and if you have the time and the inclination, please leave a comment. Thanks.

    Hi Phil
Lovely colours and light on the lapwings. One of my favourite birds and let’s hope they have a good breeding season. Great blog by the way
    Regards
