Lammermuirs trio.

Driving up into the Lammermuir Hills, here in the Scottish Borders,I came across and photographed these 3 different subjects. The skylark and the snipe both nest up here in the summer. The skylark was taken close to the road, thus showing close up detail, while the snipe was on a post much further away and so shows the bird in its’ habitat.Either technique works,as you learn something different about each bird.

The hedgehog had been crossing the road and an approaching car had just missed it.It had simply curled up and stopped in the middle of the road.So I stopped, moved it to the side and took some pictures as it uncurled and slowly moved off into the undergrowth.

Starting to uncurl.

Half uncurled.

Setting off.

Preening.

Bye bye from me and Ollie.

About Phil Mclean

Hi, my name is Phil Mclean. I'm a nature photographer living in Berwickshire,in the Scottish Borders.I enjoy photographing all aspects of nature, from the birds and the bees,to the mammals and the trees. I just love being out in the countryside whenever possible and preferably with a camera. Although I do make it difficult for myself,as I'm normally accompanied by my photographic assistant, Ollie,my springer spaniel dog. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures that I post and if you have the time and the inclination, please leave a comment. Thanks.

Lovely images Phil, and so nice to see a hedgehog they are not as common as they once were and I noticed that we are now being asked to contact a local wildlife group to advise them of any sightings as they are concerned about dwindling numbers in the area.

Thanks for the blog, keep them coming we all enjoy your work
